Heather Graham

You want to know about our  councilwoman?
Betsy is plugged in. She'll actually hear you out, help, and do her best.  If she doesn't know the answer, then she'll find out and put you on the right path. We're lucky to have her and without her— the South End Community Market would have not made it through its first season.

Norma Molestina

From day one, Betsy Ruhe has been there for Preston Area Business Alliance -not just as a councilwoman, but as a true friend. Her guidance and support, especially with grants, helped the organization grow and build a community in the Preston corridor.

Thanks to the grant she sponsored many entrepreneurs were able to continue their dreams and others started their business.

We are very grateful to the support she provided.

Having the opportunities over the past several years to observe Betsy’s work throughout the Beechmont Community and beyond (before as well as during her term as councilwoman), I can attest that she has been focused on making our community better for all who live here.

From supporting local businesses, to cleaning up litter, to solving problems, to staying visible by attending community events, to creating public forums for people to speak up about issues (as well as bringing in city department heads to address issues directly and educate people), to creating/supporting efforts that better the community - I have personally observed Betsy working tirelessly to help our district and the city.

As a retired teacher, she is educated, intelligent and most importantly, has the wisdom of working with families and their children for many years which translates well into listening and understanding the day-to-day problems that can arise and affect people throughout our neighborhoods.

As she is an avid walker like me, it’s always a pleasure to run into her on Southern Parkway and chat about things happening around our community and beyond.

Years before Betsy was elected to Metro council
I would often see her in parks clearing storm drains, or off road gathering up bags full of litter. Her devotion to making Iroquois park a better place has been and continues to be second to none.
